AI Policy

As an organization, CALIBA is continuing our commitment to uplifting authors and creators by sharing their work with our booksellers. We acknowledge that technology is changing and that Artificial Intelligence is becoming integrated into our daily lives. That said, our collective belief is that we celebrate the humans that make our industry an amazing place to be. 

CALIBA recognizes that AI may be used by some to streamline workflow, but we stand firmly in our requirement that the content and art in the books supported by CALIBA–via our Golden Poppy Awards, in-person events, and catalogs–are not created using AI. 

As of 2026 we will be asking publishers and authors (when applicable) to declare that AI was not used in the creation of the cover art or content of their book during our various submission processes.
