#SBADUMPAMAZON ONLINE DAY OF ACTION - MARCH 20

Small Business Administration: It's time to dump Am*zon as a sponsor of National Small Business Week. Logo of Small Business Rising and the American Bookseller Association.

As part of Small Business Rising, a coalition of 40+ coalition of independent businesses and entrepreneurs, the American Booksellers Association is declaring this March 20 “SBA: Dump Amazon!” Day. And we want you to join us that day (and beyond) for a social media campaign designed to put public pressure on the SBA to end its partnership with Amazon.

Who: Small Business Rising members and small business owners around the country

What: Demand that the Small Business Administration drop Amazon as a sponsor of National Small Business Week by posting social media assets with the hashtag #SBADumpAmazon

Where: On official business social media accounts: Instagram, Facebook, X (aka Twitter), and Threads

When: Wednesday, March 20. Morning until…SBA drops Amazon as a co-sponsor. PLEASE DO NOT POST BEFORE MARCH 20!

Why: Because small businesses deserve advocates with their best interests at heart

THE BOOKSELLER ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

The Bookseller Oral History Project - The story of bookselling in America, told by its own booksellers.

The Bookseller Oral History Project, which collects interviews with current and former booksellers about their historical experiences, insights, and perspectives, will be part of a new initiative to build an archive on the history of bookselling at the University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections and Archive. The Project's audio files and transcripts will eventually be available to researchers and the public.

The University of Iowa Library Special Collections is expanding its archive with a focus on the history of bookselling. Beginning with the Bookseller Oral History Project, the Library seeks donations of papers and other materials that document and preserve the history of booksellers and bookstores.

If you would like to be interviewed, contribute by carrying out an interview, or suggest a colleague to be interviewed, please contact us at info@bookstorechronicles.org

For more information, contact Lanora Jennings, director of the Bookseller Oral History Project, or J. Eric Ensley, MLS, PhD, curator of Rare Books & Maps, Special Collections & Archives, University of Iowa.
