DEVASTATING FIRE AT EAST BAY BOOKSELLERS

Early Tuesday July 30th, East Bay Booksellers in Oakland suffered a devastating fire that has completely destroyed the store. No one was seriously injured.

Click here to watch Brad's check-in posted on East Bay Booksellers' Instagram.

If you are in a position to give, some good friends of the store have set up a GoFundMe to help get East Bay Booksellers back on their feet. CALIBA will share any other ways the community can help East Bay Booksellers as the situation develops.

INDIE TO INDIE PLAYLISTS FOR AUGUST

Indie to Indie

Every month, publisher members of the Independent Publishers Caucus recommend titles for a specific theme around which booksellers can build displays or build up inventory. This mix of frontlist and backlist titles helps to diversify stock and distinguish indie bookstores from their algorithm-based online competitors. Twice every year (in June and September), booksellers can earn a $500 prize and additional coop for featuring playlist titles in a physical display.

The two playlists for August are Women in Translation, and Beach Reads. Click the links to view the playlists in Edelweiss.
