2027 Octavia E. Butler Award- Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror Category

CALIBA presents the 2027 Golden Poppy Awards in recognition of the most distinguished books written and illustrated by creators who have made California their home. 

Cost for Submission: $60 per title

• California-based publishers get 50% discount with code at checkout: CA PUBLISHER (Code not working? Email Alecia to be added to the CA-based publisher list.) 

To avoid being overcharged: Once you've added all of your title submissions to the cart please check the quantities for each title is set to "1 item" per title. If any title is set to more than 1, you'll need to delete the title and resubmit the form so that the quantity is set to "1 item" when you check your cart again. Also, delete blank forms in your cart. 

Eligible Titles Must:

• Have an original publication date between November 16, 2026-November 15, 2027.
• Be available for resale through traditional wholesale channels, fully returnable, and at standard industry discounts.
• The author/illustrator must live in California during the writing/illustrating process but does not need to be a resident at the time of publication/consideration.
• Books by authors who have won in the same category within the last two years will not be eligible for a Golden Poppy in the current year.
