2025 FALL FEST: SPONSORSHIP & PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES DUE AUGUST 8TH

Bookseller Registration is open! Share your titles and sidelines with California's independent booksellers at CALIBA's Fall Fest in South San Francisco for two full days (September 17-18). Click here for more details.

2025 GOLDEN POPPY AWARDS

CALIBA members present The Golden Poppy Book Awards to recognize the most distinguished California writers and artists.

We are especially looking for titles in the following categories: 

  • Children's Nonfiction
  • Glenn Goldman Award
  • Martin Cruz Smith Award
  • Middle Grade
  • Mystery
  • Octavia E. Butler Award
  • Poetry
  • Romance
  • Young Adult

  4. Bookshop Santa Cruz is helping little readers get back into the swing of things with some back-to-school appreciation.
  5. Readers’ Books, in Sonoma, is helping readers travel through books. 
  6. Alibi Bookshop, in Vallejo, has their annual book drive going until August 5th.
  7. Wild Plum Books, in St. Helena, made a zine! 
  8. A Seat at the Table Books, in Elk Grove, put on an AC repair fundraiser with drag performers and a DJ!
  9. Rebel Reads, in Yucaipa, will be back on the road for Bookstore Romance Day. Hope you’re feeling better, Andie! 
  10. Skylight Books, in Los Angeles, is partnering with Altadena Girls on a back-to-school book drive!
  11. Chevalier’s Books, in Los Angeles, is partnering with prison librarians across the country to get books into the hands of incarcerated individuals.
