2026 GOLDEN POPPY AWARDS: WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
In November 2025 the CALIBA Staff and Board announced exciting changes
for the 2026 Golden Poppy Awards so that we can host the ceremony in-person at this year's Fall Fest in San Diego!
As part of our changes to the Golden Poppy Awards we are moving away from Shelf Awareness mailings and are looking for new ways to promote the event, finalists, and winners. With your input we plan to make materials and resources that you'll want to share with your community, as well as, get you excited about attending the Golden Poppy Awards in September! Click here to complete the Golden Poppy Marketing Materials Survey by March 16th at 5pm PST.

MAKING EFFECTIVE THIRD SPACES WEBINAR: MARCH 12TH, 12-1PM PST
Offering a “third space” — somewhere that is neither work nor home where people can encounter others — is already central to many bookstores’ missions. But what steps can you take to create a third space that is as impactful as possible? What determines whether a third space is effective in promoting social good? And how do you overcome the difficulties of making a social space for book people — many of whom are introverts? Sarah Stein Lubrano, author of Don’t Talk About Politics, will answer these questions with booksellers in mind. Register here!
