CALIBA BOARD OF DIRECTOR NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN!

CALIBA’s Board of Directors invites you to join the dynamic team that helps steer the organization to best serve our indie bookselling community. 

If you are interested in nominating yourself or another bookseller, email Recruiting Committee Chair, Mark O’Neal.

Nominations to the board will close on April 15th. Ballots will be sent to bookstore principal members on May 15th and voting will close on May 30th.

CALIBA is returning to the Oakland Asian Cultural Center for a day of lively conversation, education, rep picks, and networking at the Owners' Retreat (7 spots remaining), on Tuesday, March 31st, and the Spring Forum, on Wednesday, April 1st.

The Trans Rights Readathon is an annual call to action to readers and book lovers in support of Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31st. March 17-31, 2026 the reading community is called upon to read and uplift books written by and/or featuring trans, nonbinary, 2Spirit, and gender-nonconforming authors and characters.

Bookseller Shoutouts - March 19, 2026

1 - Alibi Bookshop, in Vallejo, held their first nuptials in the store for their longtime friends/customers. Congratulations to the couple!  

2 - Flintridge Bookstore, in La Canada Flintridge, celebrated last weekend’s Oscar awards with a display of books on movies and movie awards.

3 - Pegasus Books, in Berkeley, has a spring green display.

4 - Bay Books Coronado, welcomed Abby Jimenez and thanked her for signing their inventory that they quickly sold through.

5 - Vroman’s Bookstore, in Pasadena, dipped into their archives to show off their 90s heartthrob status.

6 - Word Horde Emporium, in Petaluma, has put up the Certified Indie decal in their front window. 

7 - Fables & Fancies, in Sierra Madre, had a special guest at their cottage (bookstore).

8 - The Plot Twist Bookstore, in Roseville, has a fun hobby happy hour coming up to gather together just for the joy of it.
