Fall Fest Recap Slides

2025 FALL FEST: THANK YOU FOR JOINING US!

Dear members and colleagues,

Thank you for an amazing Fall Fest! The South San Francisco Conference Center hosted 200 booksellers, 70 of those being first time attendees(!), 70 authors, 26 Sales Reps, and over 60 different vendors over the two days. It was a whirlwind of conversations, education, and book slinging! To help us keep Fall Fest a successful two days for everyone, please remember to fill out our surveys.

I truly hope those of you who came out enjoyed your time together. I am forever grateful to be in an industry with such amazing people. The CALIBA staff wishes our vendors, authors, and publishing partners a fun and successful conference season. Booksellers, we wish you a busy and profitable holiday season. Hopefully you left Fall Fest with a few tools in your toolkit to help you through the coming months.

As we leave Fall Fest in the past, CALIBA will be working hard on the Golden Poppy Awards and future projects. I, in particular, am looking forward to visiting a number of your stores soon too.

Best Wishes,

Hannah

P.S. Mark your calendars for next year! Fall Fest is happening at the Double Tree Hilton San Diego-Mission Valley from September 14th–15th, 2026.

BANNED BOOKS WEEK IS COMING!

Banned Books Week 2025

This year, Banned Books Week will be held October 5 – 11. The theme for Banned Books Week 2025 is: “Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights.”

Current efforts to ban books and information held in schools, libraries, archives, and bookstores are a truth close to fiction — namely, the depiction of extreme censorship by an oppressive regime in George Orwell’s cautionary and prescient tale 1984. The Banned Books Week 2025 theme reminds us that the right to read belongs to all of us, that censorship has no place in contemporary society, and that we must defend our rights. Read more about the theme and Banned Books week on Bookweb, where you can also find shareable social media assets.

See ABFE's latest Banned Books Week newsletter with lots of event ideas, and more!
