Rosie Lee-Parks, of Readers' Books in Sonoma, is the winner of CALIBA’s Glenn Goldman Scholarship for Winter Institute 2026! Congratulations, Rosie!

 

Glenn Goldman was the longtime owner of the iconic Book Soup in Los Angeles. The Glenn Goldman Scholarship offers the opportunity for booksellers throughout California to attend conferences near and far to expand their bookselling knowledge and enrich their lives.

1 - Octavia’s Bookshelf, in Pasadena, is partnering with City of Hope to host a mobile clinic providing mammograms on November 12th.

2 - The Fleuria, in Los Angeles, was featured in The Los Angeles Times to highlight The Fleuria's very successful Audiobook Walking club.

3 - Diesel: A Bookstore, in Santa Monica, is showing off the Booker and National Book Award long list titles for their in-store book display - with finalists coming soon.

4 - The Book Jewel, in Los Angeles, has a scary story contest with open submissions until October 18th; for an event on October 25th!

5 - Ruby’s Books, in Folsom, is celebrating the beginning of cozy romance season with a selection of Fall/Winter romances.

6 - Postalworks Silver Lake, is showing off their spooky season spirit, with pumpkins, black cats, and Dia De Los Muertos books.

7 - Bart’s Books, in Ojai, has updated their decor with a skeleton here and a skull there.

8 - Flintridge Bookstore, in La Cañada Flintridge, has a colorful display of kid’s halloween books and decor.
