CALIBA'S MEMBER DISCORD IS LIVE!

Hi bookseller friends,

We are excited to launch our Discord server! We hope to use this platform for members to share successes, ask questions, and (most importantly) build more connection with fellow booksellers. This space is exclusive to current bookstore and provisional members and their employees.

We have some discussion spaces set up already, but please let us know if you have any edits or would like us to add a new discussion topic. Please be patient as we accept folks into the space. We expect an influx and we are new to this platform, too!

Remember: be kind. If we feel that anyone is abusing the platform or not following our guidelines, they will be removed.

Have staff that you would like to join? Let us know!

HELP KEEP THE DOORS OF OCTAVIA'S BOOKSHELF OPEN

Instagram post by Octavia's Bookshelf. "Hello OB community, We need a lifeline. I am reopening our Go Fund Me campaign in hopes of raising enough money and get healthy. The situation is dire so I am asking for your support in the form of a donation and/or share. How did we get here? Allow me to explain"

Hi CALIBA booksellers,

Octavia's Bookshelf, one of our own members and a budding bookstore creating community in Pasadena, needs help. View their message on Instagram, share, and donate to their GoFundMe if you can!

FROM OUR FRIENDS AT THE ABA

There's only 17 days left until the July 21 deadline for this year's ABACUS, ABA's free financial benchmarking survey. Complete the ABACUS for a chance for a full scholarship to Winter Institute 2025!

Check out this lovely TikTok by Kira Wizner of Merritt Bookstore in Millbrook, NY, explaining her experience with the survey and encouraging everyone to fill out ABACUS.

If you would like assistance, or are participating for the first time, sign up now for a step-by-step ABACUS workshop! You can also reach out to ABA CFO PK Sindwani or Greg Manns from Industry Insights for help.

Participating in ABACUS is the first of three actions that could reshape the bookselling industry. (Visit BookWeb to learn more about Building an Indie Future with the ABCs.)

Check your email for the ABACUS reminder that went out yesterday from abacus@industryinsights.com with the subject line "ABACUS-23 Benchmarking Study" to get started.
